Gudrun joined the Institute of Astronomy in 2012, managing a succession of large international consortia-led projects centring on research infrastructures, instrumentation, trans-national access (OPTICON), multiwavelength implementation (ORP) and is now involved in the multi-messenger implementation project ACME - as well as developing strategic advice to the EC to support future EC funding planning, as part of ORP.
She advises members of the IoA and of the international community on EC funding, proposal writing, financial and contractual matters, and wrote the case for the first ever successful Article 22 appeal in the UK against an ERC AdG evaluation.
From 2018 to 2021 Gudrun also coordinated the Astrophysics Part II and Part III examinations.
Gudrun has an MPhil (Cantab) and a PhD (Cantab) in Ancient Philosophy and collaborates with astronomers on research in the history and philosophy of science.
