Applications from individuals for the Royal Astronomical Society RAS Research Fellowships who wish to hold a Fellowship at the Institute of Astronomy are welcome.
The purpose of the RAS Research Fellowships is to enable outstanding candidates to pursue research in the UK in the disciplines advanced by the RAS i.e. astronomy, solar system science, geophysics and closely related branches of these sciences.
Applicants must either:
- Hold a recognized PhD degree or equivalent obtained after 1 October three years before the start of the fellowship (e.g. 1 October 2022 if applying in 2024 for a fellowship beginning in 2025), or
- have taken the PhD viva voce examination by the application deadline and expect to be awarded the PhD degree before the Fellowship start date.
Requests for the Institute to act as a host should be accompanied by a CV, research proposal, publication list and the name of a member of the Institute of Astronomy's Academic Staff with whom the applicant has research interests in common.
Applicants should also request that their endorsing IoA Academic Staff member send short e-mail confirming their support to the same e-mail address by the same deadline below.
The RAS deadline is 15th November 2024 but materials should be sent to fellowships@ast.cam.ac.uk by 6th November 2024 at the very latest.
