Research

I am working with Prof. Vasily Belokurov and Prof. Miles Cranmer to estimate the alpha abundances of Milky Way stars from their Gaia XP Spectra using supervised machine learning techniques. This will greatly improve our knowledge of the different populations of stars that make up our galaxy, particularly the Aurora stars which are ancient, metal poor stars that formed during the galaxy's chaotic early stages. Understanding these different populations would provide great insight into the dynamical history of our galaxy and place tight constraints on galactic evolution models.
