Dr Boryana Hadzhiyska

I’m a cosmologist broadly interested in understanding how the Universe evolved from its initial conditions to the complex large-scale structures we observe today. My research sits at the intersection of cosmology, astrophysics, and data science, using both observations and simulations to map the distribution of matter -- dark and baryonic -- across cosmic time.

Some of the topics I work on include the impact of baryonic feedback on structure formation, the galaxy-halo connection, and the formation and evolution of galaxies. I use a variety of cosmological probes in my work, including CMB lensing, the thermal and kinematic Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effects, the Lyman-alpha forest, and X-ray and CMB lensing measurements as tracers of the cosmic baryon content. I'm also interested in inflationary physics, the epoch of reionization, and how we can use large-scale surveys to test fundamental physics.

I am originally from Bulgaria, and am always excited to connect with students and researchers from all backgrounds. If you're curious about cosmology, astrophysics, or data-driven approaches to big questions in the Universe, please reach out -- I’d be happy to chat!
