The Institute of Astronomy is pleased to invite expressions of interest from suitably qualified researchers who wish to apply for a Horizon Europe ERC Consolidator Grant to be held within the Institute.
The ERC Consolidator Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they may still be consolidating their own independent research team or programme. Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their research proposal.
Eligibility information;
- Researchers of any nationality with 7-12 years of experience since completion of PhD, a scientific track record showing great promise and an excellent research proposal can apply.
Full details of eligibility and call documentation can be found on the European Commission website
In the first instance applicants should make contact with a member of the Institute’s Academic Staff who has related research interests to discuss the possibility of hosting the ERC Consolidated Grant within the Institute. Applicants should then inform the co-Directors (via hodpa@ast.cam.ac.uk) of their wish to be hosted and provide the name of the supporting staff member who would then be asked to submit a supporting statement.
Completed applications will have to be submitted through the European Commission’s EPSS system by 4pm GMT 13th January 2026, but we would expect interested applicants to contact a member of our academic staff as soon as possible, and at the very latest by 1st December 2025
Internal Application Deadline Date:
1 December 2025
