Talk Summary

Dr. William Wester is a senior scientist at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory where he has conducted research on particle collisions and searched for possible new particles that make up the dark matter of the universe. He is currently a member of the international Dark Energy Survey (DES) Collaboration where he studies the particle nature of the cosmos and the expanding universe using a 4-meter telescope in Chile and the telescope's scientific camera that the DES team constructed. The measurements from the Dark Energy Survey will enable the most precise mapping of the expansion of the universe and perhaps uncover connections to the subatomic universe as well.
