CIRCC: The Camera Control Computer
- Runs the camera at prime focus. Win95B machine
- Controlled over Ethernet by PC Anywhere, version 5.5
- Intel AL440X motherboard, BIOS version P09
- 266 MHz Pentium-II
- 256 Mbyte memory
- Adaptec 2940 SCSI PCI bus controllers
- 2 off 1 Gbyte SCSI discs
- 2 off IDE removable slots
- Intel Pro 10/100 PCI Ethernet card, used at 100 Mbit
- Matrox Mystique 4 Mbyte display card
- 12 volt DC supply card for powering Ethernet bricks
- The two 1 Gbyte SCSI disks are configured to be exact copies
of one another so that if C: dies or is corrupted the system may
be booted and run from the other disk. The facility on the CIRCC
Desktop allows the copying of C: to D:, something that should
be done whenever any significant change is made to the system.
- To allow booting from the backup disk (D:) proceed as follows:
The boot screen that shows memory and CRU information is replaced
with an Adaptec BIOS screen and you should type "Ctrl-A"
at this point. Configure the Host Adapter setting/ boot device
option. Change the boot device from C: to D:, quit and reboot.
- Remember not to ignore the failure: it may be a symptom of
a more significant failure to come!
CIRDR: The Computer to control CIRSI from the control room
- Runs Win95B machine
- Controls CIRSI via Ethernet by PC Anywhere, version 5.5

- 266 MHz Pentium-II
- 256 Mbyte memory
- Adaptec 2940 SCSI PCI bus controllers
- 1 off 2 Gbyte SCSI discs
- partitioned for Win95B and Linux
- 2 off IDE removable slots
- Intel Pro 10/100 PCI Ethernet card, used at 100 Mbit
- Matrox Mystique 4 Mbyte display card
- 12 volt DC supply card for powering Ethernet bricks
CIROB: The Computer to act as a Linux data store
- Receives data from CIRCC directly, and dumps it to tape
- (may not be interleaved)
- Linux machine, with RedHat version 5.1 Linux
- Runs Linux and connects to other CIRSI computers
- and local Sun machines via SAMBA
