The Institute of Astronomy welcomes applications from individuals for the Royal Astronomical Society Research Fellowship 2022 to be held at the Institute.

The RAS Research Fellowship would begin on 1 October 2022 or within 6 months thereafter. Each fellowship provides post-doctoral funding for up to three years.

The RAS Research Fellowship is offered to outstanding candidates to enable them to pursue research in the UK in the disciplines advanced by the RAS i.e. astronomy, solar system science, geophysics and closely related branches of these sciences. Applicants must have been awarded their PhD after 1 October 2017.

Requests for the Institute to act as a host should be accompanied by a CV, draft research proposal, publication list and the name of a member of the Institute of Astronomy's Academic Staff with whom the applicant has research interests in common (you should have contacted them beforehand to ensure that they are happy to support your application).

The RAS deadline is 15 October 2021 but materials should be sent to fellowships@ast.cam.ac.uk by  6 October 2021 at the very latest.

We would then send applicants a completed RAS host institute approval form, which applicants are responsible for uploading to the RAS's application system to complete their application.
