Talk Summary

How do black holes shape their host galaxies?  Powerful jets launched by black holes are thought to stir up and heat gas in the surrounding galaxy and thereby slow down its growth.  Helen will talk about how this process works, why it is crucial for our understanding of galaxy formation and show new ALMA observations of massive gas flows driven by jets at the centre of the Phoenix cluster.
