Talk Summary

The Moon  fascinated and inspired the very earliest civilisations as the brightest object in the night sky. Many ancient peoples worshipped the Moon as a deity and used it in the earliest forms of calendar systems. In this talk I shall whizz through a few thousand years of history and review ancient cultures' understanding of our nearest neighbour... right up to the time that it was first viewed through a telescope.
