As some of the most extreme objects in the Universe, black holes are commonly used to study properties of fundamental physics, to probe the centers of galaxies and the furthest reaches of the universe, and are frequently mentioned in the media. But where do they come from? In this talk, we will consider several ways black holes can form, when such formation can take place, and where the resulting black holes end up.
