Research

My research interests center around the development and application of machine learning and big data techniques to address engineering and scientific challenges, particularly in sensing and imaging, thermal and fluid systems, and automation and control. I am working with Prof. Ian Parry and Prof. Ronita Bardhan on the project “High Resolution Thermal Infrared Space Telescopes for Globally Monitoring the Energy Efficiency of Buildings”. My major tasks include 1) convolutional neural network (CNN)-based (optical and infrared) image segmentation for the detection of thermal anomalies in building facades, and 2) analysis of the thermal conditions of buildings in Cambridge based on Landsat satellite imagery and Google Earth Engine (GEE) big data cloud platform.
