The conference commences on Sunday 24 July with a welcome reception at the Institute of Astronomy at 1800-2000hrs and the registration desk will be open during the welcome reception and from 0800hrs on Monday 25 July.

Throughout the duration of the Binary Conference in Cambridge 2016 we are proposing to have live streaming switched on in the Sackler Lecture Theatre at the Institute of Astronomy.  Please contact us if you do not wish to have your talk streamed.

Access to the Institute of Astronomy from Churchill College is either via Madingley Road, or there is a pleasant pathway through the woods which is accessed from the College car park.

Access from Wychfield is via Storey's Way via Churchill Road and taking the pathway through the woods to the Institute of Astronomy.

When crossing the grounds at Churchill College please take care not to walk over the cricket pitch square!

A short tour of the Cambridge Observatory grounds, including the historical telescopes will take place on Wednesday 27 July after lunch at 2pm (maximum 15 people).  The tour will be led by Institute of Astronomy librarian Mark Hurn, who takes a special interest in the history of astronomy.  Mark will take you to see the 12-inch Northumberland telescope, dating from 1838 and the 8-inch Thorrowgood by Cooke. Registration for our conference,Binary Stars in Cambridge 2016, 24th to 30th July 2016 is now open.  The fee of 300 pounds, or 150 pounds for students, can be paid to the University of Cambridge by credit or debit card. Registration includes a welcome reception on the evening of Sunday 24th July, coffee breaks and lunches from Monday 25th to Friday 29th July, the conference dinner on Friday 29th July and a contribution to a travel assistance fund, applications to which will be considered at a later date.

Once you have entered your arrival and departure dates and initial details the option to book accommodation at Churchill College will be offered.  Talks will take place every weekday both mornings and afternoons except for one afternoon off midweek.  There will be no talks on Saturday 30th July.  All standard rooms do have a washbasin in the room.  The bathroom and lavatory are typically shared with four other rooms.

During the registration process you will be given the option to request to give a talk or present a poster.  If you wish to make anoral presentation you must submit your title and abstract by Tuesday 15th March and we shall inform speakers soon after 1st April.  Those not accepted for a talk will automatically be considered for a poster unless you specify otherwise.  Barring excessive submission of multiple posters we expect to have room for all proposed poster presentations.  We shall shortly add a separate link for submission of titles and abstracts for those who did not include this information with their registration.
