Science

I'm now actively involved in developing programmes which will exploit the potential of the
ESA Gaia mission. I'm a member of the ESA Gaia Science Team and also Chair of the GREAT (Gaia Research for European Astronomy Training) initiative - see http://www.ast.cam.ac.uk/GREAT

In terms of science I'm currently involved in a range of projects - the one I'm spending most time on now is the IPHAS survey of the Galactic Plane - see
http://www.iphas.org and the Initial Data Release at http://idr.iphas.org (implemented taking advantage of AstroGrid infrastructure). This is now being complemented with significant data from the southern hemisphere, with the VPHAS extension  using the ESO VST.

I was also part of the Supernova Cosmology Project - and
we received the Gruber Prize for cosmology in 2007.
