My poorly-shopped title image :(

A thing of beauty is a joy forever

I am Joe Walmswell, a PhD student at the Institute of Astronomy, University of Cambridge.

I work on stellar evolution but have made forays into other areas, most notably planet formation and stellar populations. I care deeply about the application of Maximum-Likelihood techniques.

I was MCR bar manager at Christ's College for two years and expanded the Scotch whisky collection to a remarkable 30 varieties. My Cambridge Pub Guide contains much valuable advice for the discerning drinker.

In the distant past I was on the Christ's University Challenge team. Since then though my television career has stagnated.

I have a weakness for versifying and some of my efforts can be found on this site.
