The magnitude of the comet can be obtained from : m = H1 + 5 log d + K1 log r
For comets currently under observation a U after the H parameter indicates that the observed magnitudes have not been corrected for aperture. This gives a better estimate for the current magnitude of the fainter comets.

The magnitude of the comet can be obtained from : m = H1 + 5 log d + L1 abs(t - T + dT)
if L1 is +ve the comet brightens towards perihelion, if dT is +ve the comet is brightest before perihelion.

Where there are insufficient observations to fully determine the r coefficient a value for K is assumed and given in [ ].
