I am a research student working with Andy Fabian in the X-ray Group of the Institute of Astronomy, University of Cambridge. At the moment my main research interest is active galactic nuclei (AGN), some of the most luminous objects in the universe, powered by matter falling in to a supermassive black hole.

I obtained my masters degree in Natural Sciences (Experimental and Theoretical Physics) from the University of Cambridge (Jesus College) in 2009.

I have a particular interest in communicating science to the general public. I have given a number of talks to public audiences as well as to students in local schools about astronomy and physics. I am also involved in the public outreach activities at the Institute of Astronomy, including the public observing evenings and the AstroPod podcast.

In spend a lot of my spare time rowing (and coaching) for Jesus College Boat Club, am one of the chief umpires for the Cambridge University Bumps races and also do a fair bit of web design professionally.
