Talk Summary

The Seven Sisters is one of the most eye catching  mini- constellations in the Northern Hemisphere. We will discuss some of its mythological significance by relating the position of this open cluster to its surrounding  constellations. The audience will have the chance to participate in determining the distance of some of the Seven Sister's stars by utilizing a novel Cambridge-developed distance determination method. This method uses stellar twins, which are stars that are intrinsically equivalent in their physical properties.
