We are very sad to hear of the death of Peter Hingley, Librarian of the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS).  His death was announced today by the RAS.

Peter was a great friend to many in the astronomical community and will be very much missed.  Particularly, the IoA Library is grateful for his help and co-operation over many years.  Without his help, tracking down obscure references, many requests would have remained unsatisfied.  He was always helpful and cheerful and with a tremendous breadth of knowledge on all sorts of subjects.
