Obituaries of former astronomer and librarian Dr David W. Dewhirst who died last September have now been published:

David W. Dewhirst (1926-2012)

David W. Dewhirst (1926-2012) was an astronomer and librarian at the Cambridge Observatories and the Institute of Astronomy from 1950 to retirement in 1993.  He was also a Gresham Professor of Astronomy and Chairman of the RAS Library for many years.
