Growing Supermassive Stars and Black Holes by Accretion

Rapid accumulation of gas can lead to the growth of a supermassive star with a convective core surrounded by an envelope undergoing Kelvin contraction. By considering the relationship between these two regions, one can deduce the mass of the core and its eventual fate. I will argue that these conditions can pave the way for the formation of rather massive seed black holes in galactic nuclei.
