Extended core accretion models of planet formation
We present our extended core accretion models for planet formation,
taking into account disk evolution (due to viscosity and
photoevaporation) and migration of the protoplanet. We show that
these models allow the formation of Jupiter-like planets in a
timescale compatible with the lifetime of protoplanetary disks.
We present calculations related to the formation of the solar system
and show that, in the framework of this model, it is possible to form
planets whose internal structure and atmospheric composition are
compatible with the ones of Jupiter and Saturn.
Finally, we present some results related to the formation of
extrasolar planets using Monte-Carlo calculations based on the same
extended core accretion models.
